Apple is expected to open a new store at Toronto’s busiest shopping mall as early as early December, sources said. The Apple Store in the heart of Eaton is understood to be 10,000 square feet (929 m2). The current Eaton Centre store will close abruptly on Friday, December 6, indicating that the new store is expected to open on Saturday, December 7. However, the source pointed out that staff training work may drag back, leading to the new store in a week (December 14 / Saturday) to open.

As early as January this year, media had reported that Apple was planning to open a new store in the Eaton Centre. At the time, Apple applied for a new building permit near the entrance to Queen Street to take over the space recently vacated by clothing retailer Abercrombie and Fitch.
According to the mall floor plan in the heart of Eaton, Apple’s new store will be more than twice the size of the 4,977-square-foot store. The reason for this is that it is one of the busiest shopping centers in North America, and that Apple only owns one of its direct stores in downtown Toronto.
Apple is also known to have three other direct stores in Toronto’s Yorkdale, Sherway Gardens and Fairview, all of which are located in the mall.
Apple is rumoured to be planning to open its first street-facing store at the busy Intersection of Yonge and Bloor in the upcoming apartment and retail building, The One. If all goes well, it is expected to open in 2022.
