Jack Dorsey, the boss of Twitter and Square, has never been the CEO of a traditional company, living what some have described as an odd lifestyle, and today announced his intention to move to Africa for three to six months next year. Dorsey had earlier said he would meet with entrepreneurs from Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa in November for a month-long trip to the continent.
For Dorsey, the trip wasn’t just about business. He tweeted that he completed his third visit in 10 days in South Africa last week, and that the CEO had a similar experience in Myanmar on his birthday last year.
As Business Insider notes, Jack Ma, Alibaba’s former chairman, was also in Ethiopia this week, and the government issued a press release revealing that it would work with Alibaba to establish eWTP( e-World Trade Platform Center).
It is unclear how living in Africa for six months will affect Dorsey’s Twitter CEO role.
