According to data previously released by China Mobile and China Unicom, China Mobile realized a profit of 81.8 billion yuan for shareholders in the first three quarters, down 13.9% year-on-year, while China Unicom’s realized equity holders accounted for 9.823 billion yuan in profit, up 11.9% from the same period last year.
Based on this calculation, the three operators in the first three quarters of this year achieved a cumulative net profit of 110.12 billion yuan, earning about 403 million yuan a day.
China Telecom said that in the first three quarters, the group’s operating performance maintained solid growth, operating income of 282.826 billion yuan, of which service revenue was 271.484 billion yuan, up 2.5% from the same period last year.
Operating expenses decreased by 1.3% year-on-year, of which network operating and support costs decreased by 6.8% year-on-year, excluding the impact of the new lease guidelines, but decreased from the same period last year, while sales, general and management expenses decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the Group’s continued optimization of marketing management. On October 21, China Mobile reported operating income of 566.7 billion yuan in the first three quarters, down 0.2% from a year earlier, with communications services revenue of 513 billion yuan, down 1.0% from a year earlier, and shareholders’ profit of 81.8 billion yuan, down 13.9% from a year earlier.
At the end of September, China Mobile had about 942 million mobile customers, including 747 million 4G customers.
On the same day, China Unicom reported that overall service revenue in the first three quarters was RMB198.532 billion, down 0.7% from the same period last year, a decline of -1.1% from the first half of this year, while industrial Internet business revenue was RMB24.291 billion, up 40.8% YoY. The company’s equity holders should account for a profit of RMB9.823 billion, up 11.9% from the same period last year.
Data show that in the first three quarters of this year, China Unicom’s mobile out-of-home subscribers increased by 9.69 million to 325 million, of which 4G subscribers increased by 31.22 million to 251 million.
