Amazon’s artificial intelligence-based text-to-speech service can now transcribe medical records in real time

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in medicine, as Amazon’s recent announcement shows, according tomedia Techspot. The company on Monday revealed its latest developments in its artificial intelligence technology conversion service: Amazon Transcribe Medical.

Amazon's artificial intelligence-based text-to-speech service can now transcribe medical records in real time

One of Transcribe Medical’s main goals is to save time for medical professionals so they can provide better services to patients, or get some much-needed rest after a busy day at a clinic or hospital. Transcribe Medical does this by eliminating the tedious work that doctors need to do every day, spending a lot of time manually entering complex health records into hospital systems.

Here’s the basic process of using Transcribe Medical: First, the doctor starts Transcribe Medical and starts by saying their notes or thoughts about a given patient’s condition. AWS-based services will automatically select this language without any language punctuation, such as Comma or Period. These comments will then be transcribed in real time in front of the physician.

If the transcription is proven correct after a thorough examination, the doctor in question can prompt Transcribe Medical to automatically provide patient details to any relevant EHR system, or even other health-oriented AWS services, such as Amazon Comprehend Medical. There is no need for human intervention.

According to Amazon, primary care physicians in the U.S. currently spend about six hours a day entering medical reports into the EHR system. With this in mind, Transcribe Medical may benefit them and save a lot of time.
