BOE’s panels are increasingly appearing in the market’s mid- to high-end consumer-grade products, and there are even rumours that they will enter into Apple’s supply chain. At last week’s official event, BOE announced that it would increase investment and production of OLED panels, with shipments tripled to 70 million next year, mostly for smartphone products.
BOE believes that the global LCD panel has been out of oversupply, BOE in the short-term future will not increase investment.
At present, BOE has three six-generation flexible AMOLED plants, the Chengdu plant in 2017, the Mianyang plant that started production in July this year, and the Chongqing plant, which started construction last year (around 2020).
Among them, the AMOLED panel of the Chengdu plant has been used in at least 10 smartphones, covering Huawei, OPPO, vivo and other brands. BOE expects that this year’s flexible AMOLED panel production capacity will reach 20 million pieces, accounting for 18% of the global share.
