After the early release of the installation package for firefox 71 stable, Mozilla now publishes the update log for the new version. As previously reported, the new version introduces new picture-in-picture, Kiosk mode, and a new-year-new about-the-page: config page, and provides many improvements to Firefox’s password manager Lockwise.

While Firefox 71 isn’t very updated, it brings some interesting new features, such as the new kiosk mode, which opens a web browser directly in full screen without any interference elements. This applies to kiosks and can be enabled via the –kiosk command line parameters.

Mozilla Firefox’s Kiosk Mode enables them as follows:

(1) Download the nightly build version of Firefox 71 to Mozilla’s website.

(2) Right-click the shortcut on the desktop and add the kiosk suffix to its ‘target’ property.

(3) Click on ‘App’ to open Firefox through this shortcut, which means you can use it in full screen in Kiosk mode.

(4) If you want to set the default open website, you can also add the suffix of “https://Google.com” kiosk.

(5) Print can be turned on immediately using the –kiosk -printing command line argument.

(6) Since the F11 button does not work, you will need to close the current tab or window through the Alt-F4 key combination.

Picture-in-picture mode is now available on windows platforms and is about to land on macOS and Linux platforms. Lets the video elements on the page pop up into a floating window that can be sized and set to “Stay front” to be in front of all desktop windows and not obscured by other windows.

Most importantly, Firefox 71 promises to redesign: config internal configuration pages, more features and more detailed information through Certificate Viewer, and the introduction of new server-timing information in the web panel of the development tool. Service-related timingthats that allow web developers to analyze other request and response details.
