Last month, Lenovo announced its long-awaited foldable phone, the Motorola Razr 2019. After the live experience, the editor of themedia Slash Gear spoke out. Following the discovery last week of the Razr 2’s collapsible phone patent, Dutch technology media LetsGoDigial has once again discovered an innovative and unique Razr phone patent.
Although overall close to Razr 2019, the introduction of a number of outstanding features in the new patent is the support of modular design, in addition to supporting fisheye lens camera modules, but also the use of modules such as projectors, high-quality stereo speakers and so on.
The patent, named “An electronic device that can be rotated to the device housing”, was approved to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) last year and is now included in the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) database.
According to the patented illustration, the collapsible phone still has a flip-top design. There is a front screen in the closed state, and when opened, you will find a long, narrow, flexible screen. The design is more compact and portable than Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and Huawei’s Mate X.
According to patent notes, the collapsible phone’s interior can be flexible or two separate screens, reducing costs. The following sections in the description can also be set as a physical keyboard.
Another striking design element is the top of the device in the folded position. If you expand your phone, the top is disabled. It helps users easily hold the phone and can be used as a support point for everyday operations. In Motorola’s vision, it wants to be modular.
We all know Moto Mod, and with these modular Mods for the Moto Z series smartphones, you can create many new features. Motorola seems to have a similar idea for this conscious foldable smartphone model. In the patent, Motorola envisions projectors, high-quality stereo speakers, and more.
Equally striking is the modular component with three cameras as standard. One faces the front, one faces the rear, and the other faces the top. The front/back-facing camera is a fisheye lens. As a result, you seem to be able to record 360-degree images using this smartphone.
