Elon Musk’s Tesla last month unveiled the high-profile CyberTruck electric pickup, making Tesla’s first foray into the pickup space, a long-standing monopoly by companies such as Ford and Chevrolet. While players aren’t clamoring to get a Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado in the game, they’re enthusiastic about CyberTruck.
A Rocket Alliance player has launched a petition on Change.org asking Musk and game developer Psyonix to bring rocket alliance’s CyberTruck DLC to them. So far, the number has reached 2,430, just a stone’s throw from its target of 2,500.
In the past, fan petitions of this nature didn’t make much sense, but earlier this year fans petitioned the producers of Mortal Kombat to get Shaggy from “Scooby-Dog” to join the game, and it was a response from the game director. So no one can say what the consequences of the petition will be.
In addition, Elon Musk is a man who is very interested in video games. Introducing CyberTruck into the game is a way to advertise in our time. Musk himself introduced the pickup truck, saying it was inspired by “games like Halo” and that there had been rumors of a collaboration with Cyberpunk 2077. CyberTruck can be the object of eye-catching players of all types, and Musk himself didn’t expect the publicity to be so good.
