Egypt plans to track all vehicles with RFID tags

Egypt’s Interior Ministry plans to use RFID solutions to identify millions of vehicles on the road. The new system, which will be rolled out over the next five years, consists of passive UHF RFID tags and labels on the headlights attached to the car’s windshield, and can respond to road reader queries at high speeds.

Egypt plans to send all its data to a cloud-based data center to create a database that tracks all vehicles across the country, which would clearly become a priceless treasure trove for law enforcement and security agencies.
