Earlier this year, Microsoft unveiled a new update to Bing Maps that allows users to access traffic camera images in real time, media reported. Today, Microsoft announced improvements to its traffic camera experience. Instead of clicking on the traffic camera icon on Bing’s map to get images and details, users now just hover over the camera icon.
Bing Maps now also displays traffic accident alerts on planned routes with a red or orange triangle icon. To learn the details, hover over the icon. Alternatively, users can tap the camera or event icon to keep the pop-up window open until they click anywhere on the map.
When the user is searching for a direction somewhere, the new Bing map has a new option called Best Mode in addition to providing different path selection modes. As the name implies, it will provide users with the best route choice based on time, distance and traffic considerations.
