The Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data shows that tactical sports mobile game PUBG Mobile and Peace Elite now gross more than $1.5 billion worldwide on the App Store and Google Play, thanks to outstanding market performance in 2019. So far in 2019, THE GLOBAL REVENUES OF PUBG MOBILE AND PEACE ELITE, DEVELOPED BY TENCENT, HAVE REACHED $1.3 BILLION, OR 88% OF THE TOTAL REVENUE OF THE SERIES SINCE ITS 2018 LAUNCH. That’s largely thanks to Peace Elite, which was released in China this year, and the game now has more than $614 million in revenue in China’s App Store. (Data does not include third-party Android channels in the Chinese market.) )
China is the highest-earning market in the series, accounting for 46% of global revenue in 2019. But since the combat pass system went live in June 2018, the series has continued to grow rapidly globally, reaching $496 million in Q3 revenue in 2019.
“Peace Elite” was released in May 2019, a year behind overseas, but Chinese players are ahead of the global market in spending on the series. Revenue from China’s App Store is $614 million, or 40 percent of the series’ total revenue so far. The U.S. market contributed $293 million, or 20 percent, while the Japanese market ranked third, with $117 million, or 8 percent.
On the platform side, Apple’s App Store contributed $1.08 billion, or 72 percent, and Google Play contributed $438 million, or 28 percent.
India is the biggest market for players
To date, the total number of players in the series worldwide has reached 555 million (i.e. the number of Apple IDs or Google accounts installed in the series). Of these, more than 116 million, or 21%, were Indian players, 108 million, or 19%, were Chinese iOS players, and 42 million, or 8%, were in the United States.
On the platform, 334 million players, or 60 percent, from Google Play and 220 million, or 40 percent, from the App Store.
Combined with the above data, Tencent’s “PUBG Mobile” and “Peace Elite” series are currently the most successful tactical sports mobile game on the mobile side. Epic Games Fortnite currently grosss $838 million on iOS, while NetEase’s Wilderness Action has $915 million globally for iOS and Google Play.
Tencent’s other shooting Mobile game, Call of Duty Mobile Game, has grossed $95 million since it went on sale in October.
As 2019 draws to a close, Tencent’s PUBG Mobile and Peace Elite series are undoubtedly one of the year’s most successful mobile games, with its launch later than other tactical sports mobile games, but with revenues later. Tencent has made many initiatives in the realization of the series, and has also proved that this long-term operating strategy of the season is just as feasible on Mobile game.
