According tomedia reports, Porsche may be known for its expensive sports cars, but the German carmaker’s talents do not seem to be limited to building cars that drive on Earth. To promote the upcoming Star Wars: Skywalker’s Rise, Lucasfilm teamed up with the company to design a StarFighter: the Three Wings S-91 Pegasus.
Unfortunately, PegASUS is not a real ship that can fly. In fact, it’s a 5-foot-long model that uses some design elements in A Porsche cars. Michael Mauer, the company’s chief designer, said: “The spacecraft’s design is cleverly integrated into the Star Wars movie world, with a striking resemblance to Porsche’s unique styling and proportions. “
It is understood that the ship’s cabin and overall shape mimicking the Porsche 911, with headlight clusters and air intakes inspired by the Taycan EV. At the same time, the car’s sports seats mimic the 918 Spyder, with a Porsche light strip design in the rear.
“The extremely compact layout conveys vigour and agility, which underlines Porsche’s design,” adds Mauer.
Lucasfilm’s involvement appears to be reflected in the addition of a spaceman robot behind the cockpit and the Star Wars beauty of the entire ship.
Although the ship won’t appear in the upcoming film, it will appear in the Star Wars story.
Later this month, Porsche will present the three-winged S-91 Pegasus at the Los Angeles premiere of Star Wars: Skywalker’ Rise.
