Google enables RCS communications services for users across the U.S., updates software and carrier services

Media reports: Google has launched the RCS Rich Communications service to users in the U.S. region, updated Google Messages software and carrier services will take effect. “Hello, RCS services are available to users across the United States on Monday, please make sure you’ve updated messagesoftware and carrier services at the same time,” Sanaz Ahari, the company’s head of communications suite, announced on Twitter.

As long as you live in the U.S., you’ll get an Apple-like iMessage-like communications experience on your Android smartphone — such as checking the party’s response status and receiving/reading a letter.

You can also send media files that are much larger than the traditional MMS standard and send them over an Internet connection at no additional cost. As for markets outside the U.S., Sanaz Ahari wants people to be patient for a while.
