Beyond Mix Alpha: New Patent Exposure of Xiaomi Surround Full Screen Smartphone

Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital reports that Xiaomi is developing a new smart phone with a comprehensive on-screen and off-screen camera scheme, featuring the entire body surrounded by screens. The company has previously shown the Mix Alpha concept device, which costs up to 2,560 euros, even more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X fold-out-screen smartphones.

After mass production, Mix Alpha is clearly able to put it on the market at a lower price. Through a series of recent patents, we can also predict the future direction of the company.

LetsGoDigital points out that Xiaomi has filed a series of smart computer patents in china, showing a surround mobile device that is higher than the Mix Alpha screen , leaving a clear sidebar on the back to accommodate the camera module.

Although the patents date back to last year, they were not made public by the WIPO database until December 13, 2019. The screen on this mobile device is even more extended than The Mix Alpha.

Obviously, for a more comprehensive visual effect, Xiaomi will use a design hidden below the screen for both front and rear. The top and bottom are ultra-narrow borders, and you don’t see the solid button.

The patent contains several color images highlighting the machine’s interface design, suggesting xiaomi had invested in a lot of innovative research and development as early as the end of last year.

Because the screen does not run through the top and bottom borders, it provides space for stereo speakers and USB Type-C interfaces, and microphone and SIM slot openings can be left in the middle of the top (or with eSIM and the entity SIM slot is removed).

Given that Mix Alpha already offers 12GB of RAM and 512GB ROM storage, it’s important that new devices don’t self-dese and 5G support is inevitable.

Operationally, Xiaomi should introduce more support for sliding gestures into the new system because the solid keys are eliminated. Of course, the exposure of patents does not mean that manufacturers must or will soon introduce similar devices.
