Yu Chengdong, Ceo of Huawei’s consumer business, said at an internal meeting recently that Huawei’s global handsets will be shipped about 230 million units this year. In 2018, Huawei’s sales of mobile phones exceeded 200 million units, reaching 206 million units. At the end of 2018, He Gang, president of Huawei’s consumer business mobile phone product line, revealed that although the global smartphone market is in a bad environment, “the total requirements are relatively high, and our target for next year is about 230-250 million.”
Since May, Huawei has faced U.S. sanctions in overseas markets, and overseas mobile phone sales have been heavily affected. But Huawei has stepped up its expansion in the domestic market, with data showing it is close to 50 per cent of its latest domestic market share.
Huawei announced that it had sold more than 200 million handsets as of October 22, 2019, 64 days ahead of schedule.
