When asked by the average consumer what they think is the best-selling iPhone model in the past few months, some may have answered the iPhone 11, according to techspot. This would be a good choice, given the strength of Apple and its carrier partners in marketing on the latest products. In recent months, however, the phone has not been the best-selling iPhone model.
Based on market share, the iPhone XR is the world’s best-selling smartphone model in the third quarter of 2019, according to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, as it gained 3% of the market share. Given the iPhone XR’s launch in October 2018, this was an impressive performance, when it wasn’t even a flagship model.
Analysts say part of the reason the iPhone XR is the best-selling model is its pricing. Apple chose to keep the XR for a year when it launched its latest iPhone 11 model, lowering its price (currently $599), and starting to sell it in more regions, including India.
The data suggest that not everyone is interested in a flagship phone for more than $1,000. In addition, some analysts believe that the low-cost iPhone SE 2 is expected to be the best upgrade option for some users. It comes after news that Apple expects to release the iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2020.
