Sonos announced today that it will raise the price of Sonos Amp and Sonos Port by $50 and move its production base from China to Malaysia, media reported. Amp currently retails for $649 and Sonos Port for $449, with the price increase coming into effect on January 9, 2020. But other Sonos products will remain at their original price.
In fact, Sonos sent that signal earlier this year. At the time, the company told analysts on a earnings conference call that it would move production sites out of China, a move that could affect prices. But the company told the media that the move had nothing to do with tariffs, but rather to diversify future production.
Users who don’t want to buy Sonos Amp and Sonos Port after the price increase seem to have to place an order by January 9.
