In February 2019, LG introduced a high-end V50 ThinQ smart machine with an optional protective case with an integrated secondary display. Six months later, the company released the G8x ThinQ and the new secondary screen case, with the same screen size and resolution as the original. As a cheap extension, it has helped users easily double the display area, even though there are still gaps between the two screens. But at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2020), we’re expected to see new options for continuing to expand the screen.

On June 26, 2019, LG submitted a new design patent to the Hague International Design System and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) database, which was officially announced on December 27, 2019, according to Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital.
Outside the main screen, this “large flexible screen phone case” provides twice the display area. At the time of storage, the accessory can also be easily folded without taking up too much space.
Functionally, users can watch videos or play games on an extended external screen while viewing messages or sending and receiving WhatsApp messages on the home screen. When you’re out, just fold it easily.
In addition to making smartphones, LG’s display division is also well-known in the industry. LG Display has demonstrated a variety of flexible screen technologies before, so the feasibility of this smart flexible screen protection case is still very high.
Finally, the patented image shows an LG smartphone with a narrow bezel and front punching screen. If all goes well, we’re expected to see new accessories at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2020) in Las Vegas on January 7-10.
