South Korean media the Elec quoted sources as saying Samsung Electronics will launch a new high-end borderless ultra-clear TV at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2020). Executives, including Kim Hyun-seok, gave a thumbs-up to the new product at an internal meeting before the launch. Samsung plans to start mass production in February, meaning it’s more than just a seemingly technical refresh.

Samsung is understood to have removed the border of 65-inch and larger TVs by closely fitting the panel symallity. The period will require equipment from Shinsegye Engineering, as well as equipment parts from Taehwa Precision, another local supplier.
“Unlike other so-called ‘zero-bazel’ products that still have borders, the new product has effectively eliminated the border, and Samsung is the first manufacturer to adopt this extreme design,” says one developer close to the project.
But he added: “There are still some in the electronics giant’s image display division who have expressed concerns about the structural integrity of the new product, namely that the panel may be stripped away from the subject section.” As for the subsequent market performance, it is still to be tested.
