Samsung will launch a new generation of Family Hub refrigerators at the upcoming CES,media reported. Before the event began, the company confirmed that the series will adopt new artificial intelligence (AI) features and make improvements to existing ones. First, its unique built-in camera — which lets users see what’s going on in the fridge — has been integrated with the AI feature.
The camera can now scan the food inventory in the fridge and update any changes. The introduction of Whisk technology has led to a new, improved diet plan that will create a shopping list of food that has run out. With this in mind, Quick Plan will be able to recommend a week’s worth of recipes to users, which can help prevent food waste and save money.
Family Board has launched SmartThings, which will allow users to monitor more than 1,000 IoT products that are compatible with smart products. For example, the SmartThings Video widget allows users to view their security cameras on the spot. Smart lights and thermostats will also be directly controlled.
“In the five years since we launched Family Hub, we’ve been innovating to reflect new ways of managing everyday life in a busy, modern home,” said John Herrington, senior vice president and general manager of home appliances at Samsung Electronics USA. The latest Family Hub is the most innovative, with more personalized, intelligent features that allow busy families to better connect with each other. “
In addition, existing Samsung Family Hub refrigerator users can look forward to the spring firmware update, which will also welcome the above described features. While it is unlikely to contain AI components, users can still expect the improved Family Board and SmartThings.
