According tomedia reports, a large international foreign exchange company confirmed that on December 31 stilettos were attacked by malware and suspended some services. The London-based company is understood to operate more than 1,500 stores around the world. The company said it would take down-line processing of the system as a precaution to protect data and prevent further spread of malware.
The company’s UK site is currently offline and when users log in, they see a “server error” prompt. The company’s website says they are taking the upgrade offline. Travelex said through an official tweet that employees are now unable to trade on the site or through the app. Some stores are said to have even taken manual action to process customer requests.
Companies like Tesco Bank that rely on Travelex are also in a state of downs.
However, Travelex noted that so far it has not found any customer data compromised, but it has not elaborated or provided evidence.
