According to the Korean website The Elec, some iPhone models released in 2020 will feature an integrated touch panel from LG. A recent report from ETNews also predicted that the iPhone 12 Pro would use a touch circuit that integrates directly with the OLED panel, eliminating the need for an additional touch layer, which would make the display panel thinner and more energy efficient.
The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, released last year, are actually thicker and heavier than the iPhone XS and XS Max, as Apple has increased battery capacity.
LG is also preparing to upgrade to LTPO backlight technology for OLED screens, which saves 15% more power than LTPS. Whether the iPhone will use the LTPO technology screen in 2020 is uncertain.
This year’s iPhone will see a major upgrade, with 5G support, 6GB of running memory RAM, a possible return to the iPhone 4 style, and front-facing 3D ToF technology.
