Citingmedia reports that the new Switch model is coming soon, it is expected to be released by mid-2020 and mass production will begin in the next few months. Nintendo launched the Switch Lite last September and in August 2019 released an upgraded version of the Switch model, mainly with longer range.
Citing DigiTimes, sources from the relevant upstream supply chain said the new Switch model is expected to begin mass production in the first quarter of 2020 and could be available sometime in July/August this year. Based on DigiTimes’s past accuracy, it’s not possible to confirm 100 percent of the news’s reliability, but fortunately there are more rumors to support it.
The Wall Street Journal’s technology reporter Takashi Mochizuki said in an August 2019 report that Nintendo does have plans to expand its Switch console lineup and confirmed DigiTimes’s report in a tweet. It remains to be noted that all of this is unverified and unproven.
If Nintendo is anything to go by to launch a new Switch console, it’s most likely a Switch Pro or some other extended version. It is reported that the new version of Switch will use magnesium aluminum alloy die-casting to enhance the metallic sense, abandon the previous plastic casing, while the performance of the processor will be improved.
