MediaTek Launches Skye 800: Native Dual Mode 5G, Quad-Core G77 GPU

At the end of November last year, MediaTek released the flagship 5G single-chip Dimensity 1000, which has breakthrough innovations in 5G, performance, AI, photography, gaming, and more, with the Dimensity 1000L being launched by OPPO Reno 3. Today, MediaTek officially released the new “Sky800”, also an Integrated 5G baseband SoC single chip that claims to bring flagship features, energy efficiency and experience to mid- and high-end 5G smartphones.

The Tianxuan 800 is still manufactured using tsudie NSCO’s 7nm process and supports the 5G Sub-6GHz band, 5G SA/NSA dual-mode network, 2G-5G four-generation cellular connectivity, dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) technology, VoNR voice services, and is said to be more energy efficient.

In particular, the Tianyi 800 supports 5G dual carrier aggregation (2CC CA), which is 30% larger than other options that support only single carrier (1CC cawithout), enabling seamless switching of multiple connections and higher average throughput performance.

Dimensity 1000 integrates four A77 and four A55 CPU cores with a maximum frequency of 2.6GHz and 2.0GHz, while the Sky800 is a combination of four A76 and four A55, with a maximum frequency of 2.0GHz and four G77 GPU graphics cores (simultaneously) Dimensity 1000 is nine, supports 90Hz refresh rate, Full HD plus resolution screen, and of course no shortage of MediaTek HyperEngine game engine optimization.

Tianyi 800 also has a separate AI processor APU 3.0, four-core architecture, consisting of three different types of cores, large core, small core, micro-core, AI performance up to 2.4TOPS (2.4 trillion calculations per second), this hardware design is also more efficient FP16, processing AI camera more accurate.

For photo-taking, up to four cameras, 64-megapixel sensors and a variety of multi-camera combinations, such as 32 million plus 16 megapixel dual cameras for depth-of-field shooting, as well as a variety of AI camera enhancements including AI autofocus, auto exposure, auto white balance, AI NR noise reduction, AI HDR high dynamic range, face detection, and the world’s first multi-frame 4K HDR video capability.

Smartphones based on the Media Tekon itan80 series will be available in the first half of 2020.
