At the CES 2020, Samsung showed off an extreme lyme curly screen display, the Odyssey G9. The Odyssey G9 features a 49-inch curved screen with a resolution of 5120×1440 (equivalent to two 2K screens combined), va panel, 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 1000 nit brightness, G-Sync and FreeSync 2.
The most striking thing about the Odyssey G9 is that it uses a 1000R curvature design, the current market common surface screen curvature is about 1800R, 1600R, 1000R means the display radius of 1000mm, compared to the Odyssey G9, other surface screen is really as straight screen.
With its 1000R bend, the Odyssey G9 should provide more immersion than other surface displays, and Samsung says the human’s peripheral vision is closely matched to the curvature 1000R and has been redesigned to provide players with a new immersive experience.
Media said they got some feedback on the scene – the Odyssey G9 was so big that it was hard to notice everything that was happening on the screen while playing Fortnite.
The Odyssey G9 is expected to go on sale later this year and should be expensive.
