Google officially disclosed Google Assistant’s user data for the first time at the CES 2020 conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Officials say more than 500 million monthly active users are available in more than 90 languages in more than 30 countries and territories around the world. At last year’s CES show, Google announced that 1 billion devices worldwide are in use, although much of it is pre-installed with Android.
At present, every 10 phones shipped worldwide, 9 of which are equipped with Android. So google has more opportunities to convert such a large number of users to Google users as a pre-installed app for the world’s dominant mobile operating system.
Rival Amazon has not yet announced how many people use Alexa each month. But at the CES show on Monday, Amazon said Alexa had been installed on “hundreds of millions” of devices, up from the 100 million announced last year. Although there is a big digital gap between Google and Alexa, this statistic doesn’t represent what voice assistant sits at home, where Assistant relies heavily on mobile phones.
