Synology Releases DS420j Starter Four-Disc NAS: Upgrade quad-core processor, reduced power consumption

At this CES 2020, Synology brings a new entry-level NAS product, DiskStation DS420j, for individual and home users. The DS420j should be an upgrade to the current DS418j, with little difference in form, including a front button and a double fan on the back.

On the hardware side, the DS420j features a 4-core 1.4GHz processor (the previous generation was a dual-core 1.4GHz Realtek RTD1293), 1GB DDR4 memory, four-pan design, with a maximum net storage capacity of 64TB. The back interface includes a gigabit RJ45 net, two UBS 3.0, etc.

In terms of performance and power consumption, the DS420j encrypted transmission speed is up to 112MB/s, and the sleep power consumption is further reduced to 7.88W.

The recommended retail price for the DS420j is $286 , and the current DS418j is the cheapest four-pan NAS product.
