Li Dongsheng believes that the growth rate of folding-screen mobile phones in 2020 will be very high, on the one hand, because the 2019 folding screen mobile phone shipment base is relatively small, on the other hand, depends on the acceptance of the market. In addition, Lee Dongsheng revealed that TCL Huaxing has received orders from Samsung’s static curved screens. Last year TCL Huaxing offered Samsung an LTPS screen, and this year it supplied a static curved screen. The so-called static curved screen refers to a surface screen that cannot be bent back and forth.

Regarding the static curved screen, Li Dongsheng said that Xiaomi and TCL have been supplied, and other mobile phone manufacturers have also sent samples.

In addition, Li Dongsheng also commented on Razr mobile phone, he said, “the product is still very good.”

At this year’s CES show, TCL Communications also showcased the first folding-screen phone. With a landscape disemorating design, the shape is close to square when expanded and the screen size is 7.2 inches. The back is equipped with four cameras in emerald green color. The folding phone has no name or price, and no specific release date has been announced.

The current production of OLED screens mainly uses a vacuum steaming process, that is, in a vacuum environment, the luminescent material evaporates into atoms or molecules, and then they can collide with the surface of the substrate during the process of the movement country and condense to form a film. Steaming process with high precision at the same time, but also in the short term difficult to reduce the high cost, in addition to the vacuum steaming machine principle, the output of OLED screen in the shape, size of a great limitation.

Li Dongsheng said that inkjet printing technology is the next generation of AMOLED technology, has not yet been officially put into production. This technology has the advantages of simple device structure, high material utilization, large area, low cost and flexibility, which is an important development direction of the display screen in the future.

According to Li Dongsheng, TCL’s inkjet printing technology is currently a global leader, only Samsung, Japan JOLED and TCL have in-depth study of this technology. In the CES 2020 exhibition, TCL company in conjunction with Guangdong Juhua also showed a 31-inch inkjet printing can be coiled flexible prototype, this is the second time TCL on THE CES to show inkjet printing technology OLED technology.

“The performance of this prototype has been perfect, and before we did the samples we could see some flawed points, and now the performance has reached the standard of industrial finished products, ” Li said.

In addition to the large screen, the production of flexible screen has also been subject to printing technology constraints, steaming process requires the absolute flatness of the substrate, difficult to use in the production of flexible screens, inkjet printing technology is seen as a better process for the production of flexible screens.

Li Dongsheng also thought about the future flexible screen production process, that is, “roll to roll”-style production, screen material is a volume, the finished product is a volume, such a process can greatly simplify the production process, improve screen production efficiency, and reduce the requirements for storage, transportation.
