At the CES 2020 show in Las Vegas earlier this week, Samsung revealed that the company’s first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, will sell between 400,000 and 500,000 units in 2019. Citingmedia Windows Central, Huawei revealed that Mate X sold 100,000 units a month in China, meaning the current total sales are around 200,000 units.
Samsung’s Galaxy Fold went on sale in South Korea last September, while Huawei’s Mate X went on sale in China in mid-November. Mate X has been on sale in China for more than two months, meaning that Huawei Mate X is currently selling about 200,000 units. Given that Mate X is currently only available on the domestic market, that’s a good result, especially since it’s more expensive than the Galaxy Fold. Mate X is currently only available in China and costs RMB16,999.
Huawei has not announced when mate X will be released outside China, after saying it would land in Europe in the first quarter of this year. Mate X’s second-generation machine is expected to be unveiled at the MWC conference next month.
