2019 is the year of the 5G year, and the absence of 5G support for the iPhone 11 series has made expectations for this year’s iPhone 12 series even more. It is widely rumoured that this year has been the most powerful year in the iPhone’s history, with not only a record number of models of five, four of which support 5G.
In a recent report, Guo Mingyu, an analyst at Tianfeng International, again predicted that Apple would release five new iPhones this year. The one-time engineering costs (NRE) for the New Product Development Business of the Fuzhikang Group are expected to benefit significantly from the addition of new iPhone models and changes in the release cycle.
In Hon Hai, Fuzhikang is responsible for new product development, Hong Hai is responsible for assembly and shipping, and Fuzhikang’s new iPhone NRE is expected to benefit from the addition and release cycle of new models, Mr. Guo said.
The report notes that this year’s five new iPhones include the 4.7-inch LCD model (iPhone 9 or iPhone SE2) in the first half, the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch OLED rear dual models in the second half (iPhone 12). 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED rear three-camera models (iPhone 12 Pro Series).
In addition to the 4.7-inch LCD model does not support 5G, the other four models will support 5G.
In his report, Mr. Guo noted that Apple will release both the mmWave mm wave and the Sub-6GHz iPhone later this year, both with Qualcomm X55 basebands. Because the SMT(patch technology), housing and antenna design are different from the design of the two models, the overall new product development is more complex than in the past.
He predicted that the iPhone 12 series will ship 80-85 million units this year, with 15-20% of models supporting the mmWave version shipped. By comparison, the iPhone 11 will ship 75 million units in 2019.
According to previousmedia forecasts, the 5G iPhone will be divided into the iPhone 12 series ($699-$799) and the iPhone 12 Pro series ($999-$1099), all with A14 processors, to be released in September 2020.
Among them, the iPhone 12 Series includes: 5.4-inch OLED iPhone (rear dual camera) and 6.1-inch OLED iPhone (rear dual camera);
The iPhone 12 Pro Series includes: 6.1-inch OLED iPhone (rear three cameras, including ToF) and 6.7-inch OLED iPhone (rear three cameras, including ToF).
In terms of form factor, the iPhone 12 Pro series is designed to be updated and notch smaller. The iPhone 12 will continue the shape of the current iPhone 11 series, adding to the dual camera.
