Nobel laureate withdraws paper due to note data loss

California Tech professor Frances H. Arnold shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with George P. Smith and Gregory P. Winter in 2018 for their work on enzymes. She is the fifth woman to win the prize. Last week Professor Arnold announced the withdrawal of a paper because the results could not be repeated and data was lost in laboratory notes.

She acknowledged the mistake, apologized and said the job was not done.
