Online communities are buzzing about photos of lost loved ones in Google Street View

When you lose a loved one, sometimes the best way to keep memories is to re-explore old photos. Now, thanks to Google Street View, Leslie Barraza has re-seen her long-lost grandfather. Lesley Baraza told CNN that when she used Google Street View to find her late grandfather’s farm in Durango, Mexico, on Tuesday, she saw him sitting at the end of the road.

Lesley Baraza said her grandfather died two years ago and she couldn’t tell him the last goodbyes or tell him how much she loved him. Lesley Baraza said his grandfather was the backbone of the family. Now, the last time you see him in this way, it is comforting to leslie Baraza.

Lesley Baraza’s tweets inspired many to find and share screenshots of lost loved ones in the street. Hundreds of people responded to her post, using their screens to record how their deceased loved ones sat, worked or stood at home or where they often went.

“It’s heartening to see Google Maps and Street View help ingenwith many people remember their loved ones and share their memories with the world in such a special way,” Ben Jose, a Google spokesman, told CNN. “
