The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said today it would evaluate a user petition. The petition calls on NHTSA to investigate the sudden acceleration of Tesla vehicles. NHTSA said the petition covers the Tesla Model S from 2012 to 2019, the Tesla Model X from 2016 to 2019, and the Tesla Model 3 from 2018 to 2019.
The petition covers 127 consumer complaints involving 123 Tesla electric cars. A total of 110 crashes involving the above-mentioned vehicles resulted in 52 injuries.
Tesla has yet to comment.
