Long March 5 is expected to carry out China’s first Mars exploration mission in July

On January 19th, the large thrust liquid hydrogen oxygen engine of the Long March VĀ  Y-4 rocket successfully completed the 100-second calibration test, which was the last test before the assembly, marking that the engine performance reached the predetermined requirements and will be transferred to the rocket assembly stage. It is reported that the Long March 5 is expected to carry out China’s first Mars exploration mission in July this year, the launch of the Mars rover. Long March V Y-4 rockets, Mars rover were all developedĀ  by the space science and technology group .

According to the information disclosed by the Space Science and Technology Group, China’s first exploration of Mars, will be a one-time completion of the mars orbit, Mars surface landing, patrol exploration three missions, it’s very difficult.

Specific steps include: the first use of long five rockets to launch the probe into ground earth-mars transfer orbit, and then, with the support of the ground measurement and control system, through multiple orbital maneuvers and mid-way correction, the near-mars point to implement braking, into the mars elliptical orbit, run to the selected entry window, the detector will carry out deorbitcontrol, release the landing patrol.

After entering the Martian atmosphere, the lander conducts a soft landing with aerodynamic shape, parachute, engine, multi-stage deceleration, landing counter-flush, and then separates the rover (surveyer) and landing platform to carry out regional patrol exploration and related engineering practices.

The orbiter remains in Orbit, providing a relay communication link for the rover and conducting a orbiting scientific probe.
