The report comes a year after Bezos’ 25-year marriage to his wife, Mackenzie, ended unexpectedly, but it is not known what data was stolen from his phone. The National Enquirer later reported on Bezos’s affair with former television anchor Lauren Sanchez.

In April last year, Mr Bezos’s security adviser, Gavin de Becker, accused Saudi Arabia of hacking into Mr Bezos’s phone before the tabloids exposed the scandal. Mr. Becker also said last year that the National Enquirer had a business relationship with Saudi Arabia.

De Becker and Amazon did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment. The Saudi Embassy could not be reached due to non-office hours. (Wind)
