“Captain Marvel 2” officially begins production, expected to be released in 2022

According tomedia Hollywoodreporter, Marvel has officially started production of the “Captain Marvel 2” movie project. Megan McDonnell, the screenwriter of Marvel’s “Wanda and The Phantom” series, will reportedly write the screenplay for the film, while the first Marvel director, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will not return to direct the sequel.

“Captain Marvel 2” will shift the story stage from the 1990s in the first episode to the modern era. Marvel also wants to find a female producer for the film, while Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are likely to work on a possible Disney Plus series, which is scheduled to be released in North America in 2022.

“Captain Marvel” grossed $1,125.8 million worldwide, making it the first female superhero movie in history to gross more than $1 billion at the global box office. Currently, Marvel’s fourth-stage films include Fantastic Four, Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Captain Marvel 2, X-Men and Knife Fighter.
