On the 25th local time, Anna Popova, director of the Russian Federal Consumer Protection and Public Interest Supervision Bureau and chief epidemic prevention expert, told the media that researchers from the Russian National Center for Viruses and Biotechnology have developed a method to diagnose a new type of coronavirus.
Bopova’s interview with Russian state television
Popova stressed that Russian researchers have developed a method to diagnose the virus within less than 7 days after the virus sequence was published, thanks to the efforts of Chinese medical experts, whose open and swift work is worthy of respect.
At present, the relevant laboratories in Russia are equipped with these diagnostic systems to deal with possible imported cases. Russia is taking all measures to prevent the importation and spread of new coronaviruses, and two Russian research institutes are working on antiviral vaccines at the same time.
