Bezos’ ex-wife sells part of Amazon stock to cash out $400 million

Mackenzie Bezos, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Bezos, has sold part of his stake in Amazon and cashed out about $400m, according to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The sell-off was revealed in a regulatory report filed on Friday on behalf of her ex-husband Bezos. Ms. McKenzie currently owns 19.5 million shares on Amazon, about 200,000 fewer than the 19.7 million she received at the time of her divorce.

After Bezos’s out-of-wedlock revelations led to their divorce, Mr Mackenzie acquired a 4 per cent stake in Amazon, worth about $37bn, making him one of the world’s top three female billionaires.

In May last year, Mr Mackenzie joined Mr Buffett and Bill Gates in their 2010 giving pledge to donate half of their wealth to charity after his death.
