VAIO unveils new SX12 ultra-thin notebook with Comet Lake six-core processor

VAIO has released a new 12.5-inch ultra-thin notebook, the SX12, with an optional Comet Lake six-core processor with outstanding performance, rich connectivity options, and a 4G/LTE modem (optional). To keep the weight within 1 kg (906 g), the VAIO SX12 is made of carbon fiber and plastic housing material, with a thickness of only 15.7 to 18 mm.

The laptop has a Full HD display and a fairly thin bezel, allowing VAIO to place a 12.5-inch screen in an 11-inch body. In addition, the company managed to equip the SX12 with a 19 mm keyboard.

Processors, the 2020 VAIO SX12 is based on the Intel 10 Generation Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10710U processors, with built-in UHD Graphics coreing, and 4 to 6 core CPUs.

On the storage side, the VAIO SX12 uses 256 GB SSD with 8 GB OF LPDDR3 memory, PCIe, or SATA interface. In addition, like the company’s other PCs, the new machine fully supports the company’s TruePerformance performance assurance technology.

TruePerformance combines advanced cooling systems to better circumvent CPU power limits and allow your computer to work longer at higher clock frequencies, rather than quickly downfrequency after a short period of peak frequency.

Like previous models, the VAIO SX12 has Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C (support for data / display / charging), one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A, and two USB 3.0 Type-A.

There are also SD readers, HDMI and D-Sub display output, 3.5mm audio, and dedicated power ports. Wireless, it comes with a Wi-Fi 5 plus Bluetooth 4.1, as well as an optional 4G/LTE modem.

In addition, the machine is equipped with an infrared sensor that supports facial recognition, a webcam, a fingerprint sensor, a stereo speaker, and a microphone. Battery, the SX12 lasts 13.2 to 13.5 hours on a single charge (capacity unknown).

It’s worth noting that the SX12 supports dedicated chargers and standard USB-C chargers. Users can choose from 5 colors, silver, black, brown, pink and red, as well as customized special models.
