Electronics giant LG is issuing a travel ban on employees traveling to China during the outbreak of the new coronavirus, media Outlet The Verge reported. The South Korean company said it also requires all current travel employees in China to return home, and that all future travel plans to China must be approved through special requirements.
An LG spokesman told The Verge: “Starting this week, LG Electronics has imposed a comprehensive travel ban on employees to China. Non-Chinese employees currently in the country must return immediately to their home country. If you absolutely need to travel to China, you must ask your employees to apply in advance and obtain special approval. We believe that if everyone, including companies doing business in China, is cautious and puts employee safety first, the disease can be brought under control. “
LG was one of the first companies to publicly announce earlier this week that it would restrict travel to China by employees because of the new coronavirus. However, many companies, including Apple and Facebook, do not ban employees entirely from travel, so “basic” business with China is now allowed.
