Japanese billionaire decides not to look for girlfriend to fly around the moon

Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese e-commerce billionaire, has withdrawn his bizarre plan to find a girlfriend to go into space on a reality TV show. Maezawa, the founder of Zozotown, has made huge down payments for spaceX’s private flight around the moon, initially planning to bring in several artists, but later announced plans to enlist a romantic companion through the AbemaTV documentary to complete a trip called “Full Moon Lover.”

Now, that’s the end of the dream, as Maezawa announced the cancellation of the show for “personal reasons.” “Despite my sincere and honest determination to perform, I have always received mixed reviews,” he wrote on Twitter.  “So far, 27,722 women have taken precious time to apply with seriousness and courage, and I am very sorry for my selfish decision. ”

“I know I’ve let a lot of people down, including all the staff involved in the production of AbemaTV. I apologize to everyone for my breach of contract. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. ”
