Former Lakers star Kobe Bryant died sunday, January 26, at the age of 41, in a private helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. And Bryant’s second daughter, Gianna, was among the people involved in the accident.
Three days after news of Bryant’s death was announced, Mr Corbyn’s wife Vanessa, who has not spoken out, today released a long message in memory of her husband, Kirby, who lost her husband in the accident, and her second daughter, Gianna.
While mourning her husband and daughter, Vanessa also expressed concern for the families of the other people on board. It was revealed that in memory of the Mamba family who died in the accident, the Mamba Sports Foundation set up the Mamba Fund to help other families affected by the tragedy.
Attached to Vanessa’s long text:
My daughters and I would like to thank the millions of people who have supported and loved us during this difficult time. Thank you for your prayers. We absolutely need them. Suddenly lost my beloved husband, Kobe, the good father of the children, we were plunged into great grief, and my beautiful, lovely Gianna, a lovely, thoughtful daughter, a good sister to Natalia, Bianca and Capri.
We also mourn the loss of loved ones on Sunday, and we share their feelings. No language is enough to describe our pain now. The good news is that both Bryant and Gianna know they are so loved. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. I hope they will be with us forever. But reality has taken them away from us too early.
I’m not sure what our lives will be like after today, nor can I imagine living without them. But when we wake up every day, we still try to stay strong, because Kobe and our dear daughter, Gianna, are lighting up the way for us. Our love for them is endless and immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them, bless them. Let them be with us forever.
Thank you for sharing your joy, sadness and support with us. We ask you to give us the necessary respect and privacy to move forward in this new reality.
In memory of our Mamba family, the Mamba Sports Foundation established the Mamba Foundation to help other families affected by this tragedy.
Thank you so much for your support in your prayers, for loving Kobe, Gianna, Natalia, Bianca, Capri and me.
