Last year, Microsoft wanted to buy Platinum Studios, but now that Platinum Studios has accepted tencent’s investment, it looks like Microsoft’s idea of buying Platinum Studios is gone, or Microsoft wants to buy other studios, according to Brad Sams, editor ofmedia.
Platinum Studios, which had previously developed the exclusive game “Dragon Scale Incarnation” for the Xbox One, was cut off by Microsoft. Microsoft’s chances of acquiring another Japanese game developer are high, although it is not thought to be possible to buy Platinum Studios.
Last month Xbox boss Phil Spencer flew back to Japan to discuss the new Xbox console and the Xbox Game Pass service with local studios. There has been speculation that, on an undisclosed schedule, perhaps Spencer will go to talk to potential acquirer, which could be a big boost for the new Xbox Series X launch in Japan.
In addition to the Japanese studio, there have been rumours that Microsoft also plans to buy a Polish game developer.
