Nintendo’s legal department is known worldwide for its “responsibility”, and according to a new report inmedia, a man who had been hacked into a Nintendo server is on the lookout. Ryan Hernandez, a 21-year-old man from California, worked with a Nintendo employee to steal confidential company information in 2016, according to documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2017, the FBI stepped in to order men to stop hacking.
But between June 2018 and June 2019, Hernandez resumed hacking of Nintendo’s servers. Not only that, but the man also boasted about his actions on social platforms and self-built chat forums, even sharing classified information about Nintendo products such as Switch.
As part of His confession, Hernandez has agreed to pay $259,000 in damages to Nintendo. However, he also faces up to five years in prison for hacking and up to 20 years for possession of child pornography.
