Because the accelerator when the brakes cause traffic accidents are frequently reported, in the future, such a tragedy is expected to be solved by technology. On Monday, Toyota released an emergency safety system that uses big data and will not accelerate if it is determined that the driver has mistakenly stepped on the accelerator, media reported. Starting this summer, Toyota will be the first in Japan to introduce this “throttle suppression” in new cars.
Reported that the system is in response to the aging of Japan’s traffic accidents. On this day, elderly drivers often misstep the accelerator as a brake.
According to a government report, 15 per cent of high-profile traffic accidents on Japan’s roads in 2018 were caused by drivers over the age of 75. The report also actively encourages older people to give up driver’s licenses.
Toyota’s announcement comes as global automakers are investing heavily in proactive safety features as they work to develop fully autonomous vehicles.
