Musk hires Tesla AI team: I don’t care if you graduate from high school

Elon Musk said on social media Sunday that even if you don’t have a college degree, it won’t stop you from working for Tesla. Musk is recruiting members of Tesla’s artificial intelligence team. “Join Tesla’s artificial intelligence!” Musk wrote on social media Sunday. Musk hires Tesla AI team: I don't care if you graduate from high school

Tesla boss Elon Musk tweeted on Feb. 2 that “A Ph.D. is definitely not necessary” and that I “don’t care if you graduate from high school.”

Instead, Musk is looking for people who have a “deep understanding” of artificial intelligence.

While “educational background doesn’t matter,” all candidates “must pass the core coding test,” Musk said.

Musk has expressed his views on the importance of degrees. In a 2014 interview with German auto magazine Bild, Musk talked about his broader hiring preferences.

“If a person graduates from a good college, it may mean that he has the ability to do great things, but that’s not necessarily the case.” If you look at people like Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, and Steve Jobs, they’re not college graduates, but if you get a chance to hire them, that’s a good idea. Instead, Mr Musk said he was looking for “evidence of extraordinary capability”. If there is a record of excellence, then this is likely to continue into the future”.
