TikTok is testing a redesign of a user profile that looks very similar to Instagram, according tomedia. The new personal file will move the avatar and fan count to the left. New York Times reporter Taylor Lorenz was the first to discover the design. A TikTok spokesman confirmed to The Verge that the company was testing the new design.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve the TikTok user experience. We are currently testing the design and functionality of our profile to ultimately provide users with a more personalized and participatory way of personal data. “
TikTok’s copy of Instagram’s user interface is part of the social network’s script – they’re constantly “borrowing” ideas and features from competitors. In fact, Instagram itself is no stranger to replication, and Instagram Stories uses Snapchat’s entire short-content model.
If TikTok does eventually launch an Instagram-like profile design for all users, it could be the beginning of the same use for all social networks – especially if Instagram decides to replicate the best part of TikTok.
