Microsoft introduced The Dark Model for Outlook in August 2019 and began a broader redesign of the app early last year. The new look and feature includes the long-awaited dark pattern. Now, however, the software giant has decided to open it up to provide a better dark mode solution for Outlook for iOS users.

Now that the solution is online with GitHub, interested friends can take a look at darkModeKit’s project details.
Developers can enable Code for iOS Dark mode in iOS 11 and above, including features such as adjusting bright/dark themes without restarting the app.
Microsoft says the solution is a simple API design that allows developers to make minimal changes and tweaks to existing apps.
Apple has added support for dark mode to iOS 13, but Microsoft Solutions supports iOS 11 and subsequent versions of the mobile operating system.
Other developers can use this to achieve dynamic tinting that matches the dark background, but it’s important to note that the solution is suitable for application development with Swift 5 and later, or Xcode 11 and later.
Previously, Microsoft had been talking about dark patterns and planned to provide cross-platform Office 365 application suite support. As businesses embrace the open source community, they may be better able to grow on competitive platforms in the future.
