OnePlus new machine patent exposure with hidden camera design

The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2020) will be held in Barcelona, Spain, later this month, and OnePlus is also expected to launch the long-awaited OnePlus 8/8 Plus model. In addition, Dutch technology blog LetsGoDigital recently reported that OnePlus is applying for a design patent for the new machine, featuring a hidden camera buried on the back of the fuselage.

The OnePlus 8/8 Plus is high-end and features a high refresh rate screen of 120Hz. At the same time, the company is expected to launch the starter OnePlus 8 Lite with a punching screen camera.

Earlier this week, media exposed the OnePlus’s special camera design patent, which features the ability to hide when not in use, reminiscent of the One Concept concept design at the Consumer Electronics Show.

On May 24, 2019, OnePlus filed a domestic patent for the design, which was approved on February 4, 2020 and included in the Global Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) database, which contains approximately 40 different illustrations.

The overall body adopts a full-screen design without a frame, but there is no visible camera opening on the front and no pop-up mechanical structure on the top. It is not known exactly where OnePlus will hide the front.

The circular camera module on the back is very similar to the OnePlus 7T, except that the lens is switched from horizontal to vertical arrangement. The illustration sits a combination of three cameras, one flash, and four cameras and one flash.

Earlier this year, OnePlus unveiled its first concept smartphone with a hidden camera design. But it uses a transparent glass scheme, rather than the more advanced (and expensive) one described in the new patent.
