Get ready for the first supermoon in 2020, according tomedia. According to NASA, the moon will be full on February 9 (2:33 a.m. EST) and will be full from Friday night to Monday morning. As in February, this particular supermoon is also known as the snow moon.
It also has other different name, such as storm moon, hunger moon, Chinese Lantern Festival moon and so on.
The term “supermoon” was coined in 1979 to describe events that occur when the moon’s orbit is closest to Earth. The moon looks brighter and larger than the standard full moon, making it a favorite of photographers and night sky watchers.
The next full moon will also be the supermoon, which will take place a month later, on March 9.
